The Nuggets re-signed backup center DeAndre Jordan on Saturday to a $3.6 million, one-year deal. Jordan hasn't had a major role in the Nuggets' success on the floor. In his little minutes played last season, the three-time All-NBA center only averaged 3.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Jordan does, however, play a crucial role in the locker room as the team's seasoned voice. He also has a solid relationship with Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, who spoke fondly of Jordan during Denver’s recent playoff run.
Given that the salary amount of Jordan didn't significantly reduce Denver's salary cap, the choice to keep Jordan on board wasn't likely too difficult. However, the same cannot be true for another veteran of the Nuggets who seems to be leaving in the free agency.
