The youthful star batsman Shubman Gill will lead the Indian team, which has been confirmed. Manoj Tiwary, a former cricket player for India, has also shared his thoughts on the selection committee's choice.
Reactions to Shubman Gill's selection as the Indian team's Test captain have been conflicting thus far. But Tiwary boldly said that Gill was the second-best choice for Test captain. Tiwary continued by criticising Gill's red-ball cricket statistics, stating that his average is below average and does not ensure a spot in the starting lineup. “As expected, Shubman Gill has been named Test captain. However, there isn’t a single player right now who is an automatic pick in India’s Test XI. Gill was the second-best option before them (selectors). So that’s why he’s been made the captain. There’s nobody who has a permanent place (in the current Test team). He was the second-best available (name),” Tiwary stated on Cricbuzz.
