The Dutch team from AZ Alkmaar, Sporting's 'executioners' in the semi-finals, won the ninth edition of the UEFA Youth League in football, beating Croatian Hajduk Split 5-0 in the final, in Geneva, Switzerland.
In a final between two teams that had never reached the 'final four', such as the defeated semi-finalists (Sporting and AC Milan), striker Ernest Poku was the big figure, scoring two goals and winning a penalty.
The Ghanaian Jayden Addai scored the first, in the 45th minute, with a penalty, punishing a totally unnecessary foul by Vuskovic on Poku, who, in the second half, threatened in the 58th minute and won even in the 70th and 76th minute.
The 'double' was achieved after assistance from Mexx Merdink, who only entered at half-time, still in time for a 'double', in the 79th and 87th minutes, to end the competition as the top scorer, with nine goals.
