Sarri asks Lazio to sign Mertens

'Il Messagero' says that Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has requested the board to consider the option of signing Dries Mertens, whose contract expires at Napoli. His salary could go up to two million euros a season until 2024 as his priority is to sign for two years.

Dries Mertens' contract at Napoli ends in less than a month's time and Lazio could be his new destination. There have not been any recent developments on his new contract or on interest from AC Milan which had been leaked. That means, Maurizio Sarri could end up signing him.

'Il Messaggero' reports that the coach got in contact with the board to ask about his arrival. At the moment, negotiations are not at an advanced stage, but it has now been revealed that Mertens wants to earn two million euros a season and sign until 2024.
