Kazuyoshi Miura, the legendary "King Kazu," is set to join Fukushima United on a one-year loan following his stint with fourth-tier Atletico Suzuka. Although the deal awaits official confirmation, the announcement is expected on January 11, honoring his iconic shirt number.
Set to turn 59 this February, Miura played seven times last season for Suzuka, who unfortunately suffered relegation to Japan's regional leagues. His professional journey began in 1986 with Brazilian giants Santos, later taking him to Italy, Croatia, Australia, and Portugal.
A pivotal figure in launching Japan’s J. League in 1993, Miura’s legacy is immense. He debuted for Japan in 1990, scoring an impressive 55 goals in 89 matches. However, he was controversially omitted from their historic first World Cup squad in 1998. This latest move continues the remarkable endurance of football’s oldest professional, extending a career that has spanned nearly four decades across multiple continents.
