According to Il Mattino (via Milan News), the Rossoneri have asked Salernitana for further details about the requirements for signing him during the January transfer window. When Dia, 27, was on loan from Villarreal, he was among the top attackers in Serie A in 2022–2023. In the league, he scored 16 goals and contributed six assists. Salernitana paid the €12 million required to extend the loan agreement because of such performance, but Dia and the club have not fared as well in 2023–2024.
He has only scored four goals in his 13 outings thus far due to injury. Milan would be taking a risk with this transfer given his age and his decline in form. His Salernitana contract has a €21 million release clause, but Milan has informed Walter Sabatini, the sports director of Granata, that they will not fulfil that amount.
