Just after the halfway mark of the first half, Alejandro Garnacho, Erik ten Hag's substitute, was the first to clip the woodwork. Rashford had started the game on the bench. The crossbar also denied Bruno Fernandes, but goalkeeper Dean Henderson, playing against his old team, made a number of outstanding stops to keep Palace in the game.
As the Eagles gained momentum in the second half of the game, both teams had opportunities to alter the result, but for the third consecutive Premier League game, the home team ended up splitting the points. Early on, Matthijs de Ligt headed a corner right into Henderson's arms, and moments later, Garnacho's low left-footed attempt was gloved by the goalkeeper.
