Atalanta rallied twice to defeat Genoa 3-2 at Marassi

On a celebratory night, Atalanta rallied twice to defeat Genoa 3-2 at Marassi, led by Capocannoniere Mateo Retegui, Daniel Maldini, and Ibrahim Sulemana. As achieving their goals for the season, both teams were in a festive mood, and Genoa supporters had even more cause to celebrate as their local rivals Sampdoria were unexpectedly demoted to Serie C. Mateo Retegui scuffed his goal into Nicola Leali's arms and missed another on the Maldini pull-back, while Daniel Maldini stroked a first-time finish just wide of the far post.

Ibrahim Sulemana's second goal in as many games immediately after the restart put Atalanta back on pace. Pinamonti took advantage of a humorous miscommunication between Marco Brescianini and Isak Hien to take the ball and put it in at the near post, giving Genoa the lead again. Later, Maldini scored his first Serie A goal of the season for Atalanta, making up for the previous mistake. But Atalanta had reversed the tide and took the lead with a late Retegui goal.
