Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni, referred to striker Angel di Maria, who was honoured as part of the World Cup qualifiers match against Chile, and said he is “one of the best in history and has left an indelible legacy”.
At a press conference at the premises of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in Ezeiza (Buenos Aires province), the coach spoke about the tribute that 'El Fideo' would have received before the Argentina-Chile match, corresponding to the seventh day of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, after his retirement from the 'Albiceleste', which took place after the Copa America in the United States.
Scaloni considered that the former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain player “has been one of the best players in history for the national team and has left an indelible legacy”, so “he deserved a tribute from his people, with his people, in Argentina”.
