European Championship 2016: Portugal vs Iceland preview

Portugal will start their adventure in this summer's European Championship which is to be celebrated in France. This is Iceland's first major tournament, they used only 20 players to qualify to it, their average age is 28 years and 8 months which is the second oldest age average of the 24 teams who make it to the European Championship's final stage. Manager Lars Lagerback will manage his seventh major tournament as a head coach, his last one was with Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup.

But the focus is all on Portugal and major star Cristiano Ronaldo, who could become alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Sweden, into the first ever player to score in three different European Championship final stages. Manager Fernando Santos might give the surprise and play with youngster Renato Sanches who has become one of the tournament's young talents to follow. Portugal forward Eder spoke about his side's aspirations for this tournament.

He told the press that: "We're working towards winning the tournament. We've got huge ambition and we want to get the right results. We're very confident and motivated. We had an excellent qualifying campaign, with great results. The group has been working very well together, the players are playing very well. Right now, we have all it takes to do something amazing in this competition and that's exactly what we want to do. We're a very strong group in this respect. This blend will show its worth during the matches and it will be very positive for us. The way we are playing right now, we'll score lots of goals."
