Eden Hazard has fully recovered his best sensations from two seasons ago when he was named the best player in the Premier League. With the ball at his feet, he reached a top speed of 30 km/h against Hungary tonight. He completely owned the match and led his team to a comfortable 4-0 win against the Eastern European side, but the game could've ended with a much greater advantage. Bad luck and poor aim were the main reason why this game didn't end in a 6 or 7-0 win for the Red Devils.
In order to have a shot at controlling the full development of this match, Belgium needed an early goal that could grant them that peace of mind. They got it in the 10th minute after a thumping Toby Alderweireld came unmarked to the back post, he met a perfectly Kevin de Bruyne free-kick and got the ball in. But the rest of the game was going to be filled with missed chances for Belgium, Hungary had some good chances too but Courtois was mostly on point and the opportunities came on counter-attacks.
It took them nearly 70 minutes to find the back of the net again, until the 78th minute the match could've gone to either side but Eden Hazard was inspired and he was the one who marked the pace of the game. On the 78th minute, in an incredibly fast individual play he sent Michy Batshuayi a cross from the left for Belgium's second goal. The youngster had been on the field just 1 minute and 34 seconds when he got the chance to double Belgium's lead.
After that moment, Hungary completely surrendered the spaces they had been covering. Two minutes after the second goal, De Bruyne fed Hazard who cut in from the left and danced across the box to let loose a whiplash strike to the bottom-right. It was a beautiful goal to watch, Hazard at his very best. With the game all decided Hungary still wanted at least a single goal and refused to give up. They tested Courtois but got caught on the counter that Carrasco finished low inside the left post. It was a 4-0 massacre with three goals in the last 10 minutes, the quarterfinals against Wales are set and they will be very exciting.
