Karembeu warns France about Ronaldo

Being one of the two best players in the world gives you that edge that no other players have. Despite being 31 years of age, Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably in the best moment of his career. He is on his way to winning his fourth Ballon d'Or unless Griezmann says otherwise and he is a constant danger to any defense in the world. This is something that every single French defensive player has to be aware of because even if he doesn't seem like he is having any influence in the game, Ronaldo can strike at any given moment and you won't see it coming.

Plus there is that added component of him being frustrated for losing that 2004 final back in his home country against Greece, this will make him even more dangerous. So as a form of warning, former French international Christian Karembeu, sent all the French players a warning about Cristiano Ronaldo and the undeniable danger he represents against all the hopes placed in the national team. If there is someone who can break that dream, it's the Real Madrid star.

Talking to Omnisport, Karembeu said: "We need to be careful about Portugal because they have Cristiano Ronaldo. You see the way they have taken [themselves] from third place [in Group F] to the final. That means they have all the parameters and all the things for them [to succeed]. For sure, Cristiano has already made a record ... by scoring as many goals as Michel Platini, and of course he'd love to [be] the first one who had more goals ... he will be [a factor in] the final."

Karembeu also analyzed the incredible talent his country has right now: "We all know that we have tremendous talent in the squad with [Dimitri] Payet, [Paul] Pogba, [Antoine] Griezmann, [Olivier] Giroud, [N'Golo] Kante, but obviously I think we are [also] a team. I think it's very different because when we think about 1998, nobody was expecting us to get so far, so we're going to compare obviously, today we expect them to win the tournament. The two cases are very different but we have talented and very young players, and with their talent they're already in big clubs in all the top European teams, so I hope that we can see what they can deliver ... [hopefully] they are efficient and can achieve great performances [followed] with a victory."
