Man City trying to wrap up Gvardiol before Community Shield

It's been a slow summer for City's signings. The only arrival has been midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, and the club have seen the departure of Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli), defender Kyle Walker looking keen on a move to Bayern and Bernardo Silva receiving interest from a host of clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia.

'Daily Mail' reports now, however, they are one step closer to another signing. The English outlet writes that they have maintained talks with RB Leipzig over centre-back Josko Gvardiol, even after the German club denied they were close to a deal.

The aforementioned source claims that talks have progressed since then, particularly in the last 24 hours, led by Oliver Mintzlaff, head of Red Bull's sporting partnerships. In fact, the paper reports that the Cityzens want to try and get the deal wrapped up before they face Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday (August 6th).
