Manchester City won the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties

The first silverware of the season in England was won by Manchester City on Sunday as Pep Guardiola's side beat Chelsea 4-3 on penalties at Wembley Stadium.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the extra-time period was very tight as either side was afraid to make a mistake, yet this is when the most controversial moment arrived. Having gone down twice due to a muscular problem, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted by head coach Maurizio Sarri, despite Willy Caballero being ready to come on.

There was still the shootout to dispute and finally Raheem Sterling, stepped up to secure the victory for City as he gave Guardiola's side a 4-3 lead. This trophy is Guardiola's 25th of his illustrious career as a coach and he could yet add to that with City still in with a chance of winning the Premier League, FA Cup and the Champions League.
