Manchester United Target Holding Midfielder to Strengthen Midfield Depth

Manchester United seem poised to strengthen their midfield with the signing of a reliable holding midfielder. While much of the transfer window has revolved around bolstering their attack—especially after the arrival of Matheus Cunha and continued links to Bryan Mbeumo—the focus may now be shifting. With Christian Eriksen's departure creating a gap and doubts lingering over Casemiro’s long-term impact, manager Ruben Amorim is likely eyeing reinforcements.

Though Kobbie Mainoo shows immense promise, his injury record raises concerns, and Manuel Ugarte remains largely untested at this level. United’s midfield lacked control last season, exposing the need for a composed, defensively solid presence to dictate the tempo and provide balance. Adding a proven holding midfielder could be key to Amorim’s plans to rebuild and help United compete more consistently in the Premier League and Europe.
