Real Madrid and Sevilla share points

Real Madrid secured a point against Sevilla thanks to a header by Dani Carvajal in the 78th minute, guaranteeing that they will go to Barcelona as the La Liga leaders next weekend.

Madrid forced a 1-1 draw at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to set up the first "El Clasico" of the season. After Toni Kroos' free kick was headed precisely by Carvajal to tie the score, former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos wasted a great opportunity in stoppage time which would have given new Sevilla head coach Diego Alonso his first win as manager. Madrid now has 25 points after the 1-1 tie, one point ahead of Girona and Barcelona, who play their separate matches on Sunday. However, neither of their closest rivals can pass the Bernabeu team before their match at the Olympic Stadium in Catalonia the following weekend.
