Ilaix Moriba, a former Barcelona star, may not be able to join La Liga team Celta Vigo from RB Leipzig in the summer. After a lackluster stint in Germany, Moriba finalized a loan move to Galicia at the beginning of the 2024–25 season, as the Bundesliga team sought to let him go. During his tenure at Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy system, the Guinea international was hailed as a major talent.
The 22-year-old selected a lucrative contract offer from Leipzig over one from Barcelona, a decision he subsequently said he regretted. With four loan periods back in the Spanish first division, including two seasons with Valencia, before joining Getafe in 2023–2024 and Celta last summer, his career has since fallen from the public eye. Now, Celta is prepared to pay the €6 million clause to keep him at the Estadio Balaidos permanently this summer, and negotiations are still in progress. He will return to Germany if an agreement is not negotiated by June 15th.
