Arsenal had an offer rejected for Palmeiras forward Luighi

With just three new players entering the door during the transfer window, the Gunners accomplished very little. On a season-long loan from Chelsea, Raheem Sterling joined the London team, while Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino made permanent transfers. It was their intention to add another forward, and it has now emerged that they tried to sign a younger player. Jorge Nicola, a Brazilian writer, claims that Palmeiras, a Brasileiro Serie A team, turned down a Gunners bid for 18-year-old Luighi.

The young player for the Palmeiras is regarded as a high potential, and they are unwilling to sell him before he makes a name for himself because they believe his worth will soar. Although Luighi has spent the majority of his football career in Palmeiras' minor systems, he has made three professional appearances for the Brazilian team.
