Arsenal’s Noni Madueke facing around two months out with knee injury

“He had an issue very early in the match and he wasn’t well enough to continue,” head coach Mikel Arteta said after the game, per The Standard.

Madueke has at least avoided the worst-case scenario – an ACL injury – but it’s a frustrating setback after such a promising start to life at the Emirates.

Injuries have (again) become an unwelcome theme this season, with at least one Arsenal player sidelined after every league fixture so far. Kai Havertz underwent knee surgery after the opening game at Manchester United, Bukayo Saka strained his hamstring against Leeds, and Martin Odegaard damaged his shoulder in the same match. William Saliba, meanwhile, hurt himself in the warm-up before the defeat to Liverpool and had to come off early.

Madueke is the latest Arsenal forward to suffer an injury. Havertz is yet to return, while Gabriel Jesus tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
