Aston Villa’s slump continues after 1-0 loss to Southampton

Southampton sees off Aston Villa to 15th position in the Premier League after the 1-0 win on Friday. Dean Smith’s side slumped to their fifth back-to-back loss in the top-flight competition and enjoy a three-point cushion over the relegation zone. Southampton’s Adam Armstrong gave the team an early lead in just three minutes ending his nine-game goal drought with a top corner shot.

Aston Villa was struggling to put up a fight in the first 45 minutes earning a lot of boos from the traveling Aston Villa supporters. After the loss, Smith shared, that the team would do better in the coming matches and has been coping with the loss of five key players to injury. While chances were already scarce for Villa, they also had to bear Tyrone Mings and Axel Tuanzebe’s wasteful off-target attempts against Southampton.
