Atletico Madrid and Flamengo have confirmed the transfer of winger Samuel Lino, with the 25-year-old Brazilian signing a four-year deal to return home. Lino leaves Atletico after two seasons, including a loan spell at Valencia and a strong debut campaign in Madrid. He made 93 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 16 assists. His second season was less consistent, struggling to adapt to a midfield four. Flamengo will pay €22 million plus €3 million in variables, according to Marca.
It remains unclear whether Atletico have paid Gil Vicente a 20% sell-on fee, which could total €4.4 million. Without it, Atletico make a €15.5 million profit; with it, their profit drops to €11.1 million. Lino is expected to earn nearly €5 million per year at Flamengo, who now land one of the most high-profile signings in Brazilian football this year.
