Bayern boss hints at desire to extend Harry Kane's contract

Christoph Freund has hinted at a contract extension for Harry Kane, whose current deal with Bayern Munich runs until 2027.

Speaking in the wake of Bayern’s 5-1 win over Cypriot champions Pafos on Tuesday, Freund said he hopes to keep the 32-year-old striker at the club “for a long time.” “You see every three days how incredibly important he is for the team and how much joy and fun he gets from playing football,” Freund told reporters. “He is a key factor for Bayern Munich, and we are very happy to have him with us. We hope that continues for a long time.”

Board member for sport Max Eberl recently expressed similar sentiments: “Harry is showing that he doesn’t seem old at all – it’s like he’s fallen into a fountain of youth with how active he is on the pitch. For us, [a contract extension] is absolutely imaginable.”
