Bayern Munich had a frantic finish to the summer transfer window, eventually securing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy next summer. Jackson is set to debut after the international break. The Bavarians had initially targeted VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade and even explored a deal for Christopher Nkunku, but talks with Chelsea collapsed. Bayern then switched focus to Nkunku’s teammate Jackson, sealing the late move.
Sporting director Christoph Freund had hinted the club wanted more than one forward before the deadline, and reports suggest they also pursued Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman. According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern submitted a loan bid for the Nigerian attacker, but Atalanta rejected the proposal. Lookman, open to leaving this summer, had no personal terms issues, yet Bayern were unable to strike a deal before the window closed.
