Lennart Karl took another step in his meteoric rise for the Bavarians by netting a maiden Bundesliga goal in his side’s 3-0 away win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 17-year-old picked the ball up on the edge of the Foals’ penalty area, before getting away from his marker and unleashing a stunning curling effort, which nestled in the top left corner beyond a dumbfounded Moritz Nicolas.
Not only did Karl’s strike wrap the three points up for Bayern, who claimed their record-equalling 13th consecutive victory in all competitions, but it also marked the youngster’s first-ever strike in the Bundesliga – and second goal for Der Rekordmeister– on just his 11th appearance in all competitions.
Karl had cut a confident figure, declaring: “I don’t need to fear the opponent. I need to press ahead and do my thing.” Needless to say, Bayern’s No.42 has certainly done that – what a week for the 17-year-old!
