Borussia Dortmund hard-fought home win over Athletic Club 4-1

Karim Adeyemi showed quickness to reach the byline and produce the cross, and Daniel Svensson converted at the back post to give Niko Kovac's team a well-earned lead in the 28th minute. In an effort to get back into the game, Athletic manager Ernesto Valverde made three substitutions at halftime. However, the home team doubled their lead five minutes after the restart.

Carney Chukwuemeka, a former winger for Chelsea and Aston Villa who has played for England at the under-20 level, scored his first goal in Europe to make it 2-0. His low drive took a tiny deflection and beat Unai Simon at his near post. Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of England midfielder Jude, almost added a third for Dortmund only to see his deflected shot loop over the crossbar. But Athletic pulled one back in the 61st minute with their first goal in this season's Champions League.
