Brazil takes the lead in South America

It's been 10 matches for the South American World Cup Qualifiers, and already we can see which national teams are strong at the top. The first match gave us the Bolivia against Ecuador game which ended in a 2-2 draw with braces scored by Escobar for the locals, and another brace scored by Enner Valencia for Ecuador. The next match was Colombia against Uruguay, the Charruas managed to get a point from Colombia with goals by Cristian Rodriguez and Luis Suarez, the locals scored through Aguilar and Mina for the 2-2 final result. This draw gives Uruguay 20 points and helps them stay on top.

Talking to VTV, Luis Suarez said how much he regrets not being able to defeat Colombia: "It was an accumulation of fatigue. There are a lot of matches and traveling, but the important thing is to give everything for this team. Obviously, it hurts having been capable of beating them, but it's one more important point rescued against one of the direct rivals, playing away and with the conditions they have. The rain helped a little with the heat, but it also hurt a bit because the ball was heavy and it slowed the game a lot. It's a great point, obviously. We will enjoy it and continue forward from here."

Chile got to defeat Peru 2-1 with an Arturo Vidal brace. Argentina lost their match against Paraguay in Cordoba 1-0, which leaves them behind in fifth place and currently out of the World Cup. In Venezuela, Brazil defeated the Vinotinto with goals by wonder kid Gabriel Jesus and another goal scored by Willian. Fifteen minutes from the final whistle there was a blackout that lasted 22 minutes, but after the match got underway again, there were no major changes in the end result.
