Brighton defeated relegation-threatened Ipswich Town 2-0

Brighton ended an eight-game losing streak in the Premier League by defeating relegation-threatened Ipswich Town 2-0 at Portman Road. After halftime, goals from Georginio Rutter and Kaoru Mitoma were sufficient to give the Seagulls the win and increase their chances of qualifying for Europe.

In the first session, Ipswich did pose a danger when Omari Hutchinson and Liam Delap forced Bart Verbruggen to make saves. But just before the hour, Mitoma managed to sneak in a shot, and nine minutes from the end, Rutter's deft flick secured the points, moving Brighton up to ninth place in the standings. In terms of goals scored, Ipswich falls back into the relegation zone, trailing Wolves, yet they are just four points behind sixth-place Manchester City. Ipswich lost the xG fight by a slim margin of 0.14-0.27, but they were more than competitive in the first forty-five minutes at Portman Road, matching Brighton 4-4 in shots.
