Stoke City goalie Jack Butland is convinced that he can replace Joe Hart as the England goalkeeper and stay there for the next decade, but in order to pull that off he knows how hard he needs to work at Stoke City to be taken for consideration. The goalie spoke to Stoke City's Youtube channel and told the world what his true intentions are, but he knows there is a lot he has to do still.
Butland said: "That comes with playing well for Stoke. That's what I was saying last year – playing well for Stoke gives me the best opportunity for the Euros. Unfortunately, that didn't come about but if I keep playing well for Stoke, with clean sheets and good performances, it will give me that opportunity again. If that opportunity comes then I plan on taking it."
Stoke played a friendly match against Championship newcomers Burton which they lost 3-0 after Butland left the field during half time. He said: "I'm really pleased to be back and get some minutes under my belt again. From a mental point-of-view, the last time I was on the pitch I broke my ankle – so it was good to get through that. To feel what it's like to be back on the pitch again is really good."
