Cadiz got off to a first win at home defeating Alaves

The contest was tilted in favour of the Yellow Submarine as Fede San Emeterio flicked in a Juan Hernandez set piece to give his team the early lead. With players like Andoni Gorosabel, Jon Guridi, and Luis Rioja directing their assault, the Basque team had a strong stretch in the closing 15 minutes of the half. Although Roger Marti and Chris Ramos were working hard up front for Cadiz, the team's most remarkable quality was on defence. Cadiz, spearheaded by the ever-present Fali, successfully repelled every Alaves assault; the only time Alaves came close to scoring was on a deft header from replacement Kike Garcia.

Alaves only managed to score 0.25 of the projected goals despite controlling the ball and the play. After the game, Sergio Gonzalez, the manager of Cadiz, told the media that his team had to enjoy both possessing the ball and enjoying the game without it, which they did.
