Cameroon midfielder Ekeng dies on the field at age 29

It's really bad when one has to report on sad news like this but we have to, this Friday Cameroonian midfielder Patrick Ekeng was about to enter the field as a substitute. After he did not seven minutes went by when he suddenly collapsed, the medical staff rushed inside the field and did CPR on him for a few minutes, he didn't wake up. They took him to the hospital and declared him dead a few minutes after the incident. There are no more details on what the cause of it was, but it sure looks like it was something related with his heart giving up.

After the player was taken off the field the match ended in a 3-3 draw, then about ah hour after he left the field on a stretch he died. The Cameroonian began his career as a pro with Canon Yaounde and then got enrolled in French club La Mans back in 2009, he was 29 years old.

He also played for Rodez, Lausanne Sport and Spanish club Cordoba before he moved to Romanian club Dynamo Bucharest at the beginning of this year. This is not the only story of a sudden death such as this one, years ago we have seen how other players in countries like Spain, Italy and France have died for the same reason. Out thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
