John Toshack handed Iker Casillas his Champions League debut back in February of 1999, and Tuesday evening's clash between Porto and Roma, on a difficult night for the Portuguese champions, the Spanish international has become the undisputed record holder in a number of categories over the past two decades.
No player has taken part in more editions of the Champions League than the 20 of Casillas, of which he has reached the knockout phase in all but one season. His 174 matches - 150 came with Los Merengues and 24 with Porto - is a competition record, whilst he has 59 clean sheets over the course of his continental career.
No goalkeeper has won more European Cups than Casillas, with his haul of three seeing him stand level with Keylor Navas, Juan Alonso, Ray Clemence, Sepp Maier, Heinz Stuy and Victor Valdes.
