Chelsea clinched victory in the UEFA Conference League final in Wrocław against Real Betis. Following the match, Blues head coach Enzo Maresca shared his thoughts on his team’s performance.
“I expected us to play like we did in the first half. The thing is — and I mentioned this a week ago — you can’t afford to give any advantage to the opponent. There was a 48-hour gap between their last game and ours, which is significant. They played on Friday in a match that didn’t mean much for them, while we played 100 minutes on Sunday and fought until the very last second to achieve something important.
But I’m also incredibly proud of the journey we’ve had in the Premier League. It’s the toughest competition in the world — consistency over 38 games is key, and these players delivered,” Maresca said.
