Pantelis Hatzidiakos' own goal in stoppage time saved Bayer Leverkusen's 2-2 draw against FC Copenhagen in their Champions League opener on Thursday. After nine minutes, Jordan Larsson scored and illuminated Parken Stadium after meeting Elias Achouri's cross, giving the Danish hosts the ideal start. Leverkusen didn't do much in the first half as they had trouble getting past Copenhagen's defence. The home team had multiple chances and were only kept from increasing the advantage by some excellent goalkeeping from Mark Flekken.
Leverkusen were frustrated by Copenhagen keeper Dominik Kotarski until Alejandro Grimaldo’s stunning free kick leveled the game. But Robert quickly restored Copenhagen’s lead with a header, only for stoppage-time drama as Claudio Echeverri’s cross deflected off Hatzidiakos to seal a late equaliser.
