Man City recorded a 3-1 victory against Premier League leaders Arsenal on Wednesday which moved Manchester City to the top of the standings. At the Emirates, City put up a dominant second-half performance to defeat the Gunners for the 11th straight league game and overtake them on goal differential. Both teams have 51 points, but Arsenal has a game in hand as it pursues its first championship trophy since 2004. The victory will increase City's chances of winning a fifth championship in as many seasons under Guardiola, but the Spaniard insisted there was still a long way to go.
At the end of April, when City will play host Arsenal, Guardiola predicts that the race will heat up then. Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, was left to lament the small mistakes that led to a potentially expensive loss. Kevin de Bruyne gave City the lead thanks to a sloppy backpass from Takehiro Tomiyasu, and City added another goal through Jack Grealish when Gabriel slipped up. Later Erling Haaland's 26th league goal of the season gave City the victory, and the game was won.
