Cremonese lost to Udinese 1-1 at home on Monday, their fourth tie in five Italian league games, after they were unable to maintain an early advantage. After two substitute appearances, former Leicester striker Jamie Vardy earned his first start for Cremonese. However, four minutes later, defender Filippo Terracciano gave the home team the lead by heading in a free kick on the left.
Early in the second half, Nicolo Zaniolo headed in an equaliser for Udinese after Federico Bonazzoli and Franco Vazquez both struck the woodwork as Cremonese attempted to score a second. Vardy, who signed for the Italian team in the offseason after a 13-year career at Leicester, played the full 90 minutes and came close to scoring on two occasions as well as picking up a late yellow card.
