Argentine Paraguay manager Ramon Diaz had a result in his hands and let it slip at the very end of the match, all because he decided to park the bus and protect an uncertain 2-0 advantage. The first half ended with a Dario Lezcano goal after a cross from the left by Benitez, up until this moment the Paraguay side was doing things great and were taking advantage of Neymar's absence today.
The second half started even better for the local team, as Edgar Benitez scored the second goal just four minutes after the second half started. 'Pajaro' received an assist from Ortiz and finished with a potent left foot shot. But after this moment, every single move Ramon Diaz made was in detriment to his team's advantage. He called the substitutions in a defensive manner and decided to get back and protect the result, which was a huge mistake playing against the five times world champions.
Brazil put all they had on the attack thinking that Neymar wasn't there to help them, on the 79th minute it was a potent long range shot by Hulk the Paraguay goalkeeper deflected and gave Ricardo Oliveira the chance to tuck the ball inside. That pulled one back for the Brazilian side and they had still 10 minutes at least to get that equalizer. There came a moment when everybody thought Brazil was going to lose that game, but Diaz's poor tactics were too dismal and in the last minute it was Daniel Alves who scored a beautiful curled goal to the far post for the final 2-2 draw. Brazil salvaged a point right in time thanks to another Barcelona player who wasn't Neymar.
