A member of Barcelona's summer recruitment list suffered an early fitness setback, the La Liga powerhouse said Tuesday.
Roger Martínez was signed by Barcelona last month after his contract with Catalan rivals Espanyol expired. In turn, the midfielder made his Blaugrana debut during the weekend during Barca Atletico's friendly match against L'Escala. But Martínez's early days were a fiasco. It soon became evident that the 21-year-old was in too bad of a condition to continue after he went to the ground clutching his shoulder. After being carried off, Martínez underwent a battery of tests and medical examinations. Barça Atlètic have confirmed a setback ahead of the new season, with Roger Martínez sustaining a dislocated left shoulder. He’ll undergo conservative treatment and is expected to be out for 8–10 weeks.
