If Newcastle United decides to pursue Eduard Spertsyan, Premier League champion Manchester City will allegedly provide competition.
The 23-year-old offensive midfielder has impressed for Russian club Krasnodar this season with five goals and three assists in only 13 games, and he is reportedly drawing interest from both Premier League teams. Spertsyan progressed through the Krasnodar academy system before making his senior debut as a substitute against FC Khimki in September 2020. A little over a month later, he made his Champions League debut against Chelsea. Spertsyan broke the record for the youngest Armenian to play in a Champions League group stage match with the latter of those performances, surpassing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a former Manchester United and Arsenal player, by more than a year. In 88 appearances across all competitions since breaking into the Krasnodar first squad, Spertsyan has gone on to score 27 goals and contribute 21 assists, which has apparently caught the interest of many teams in Europe.
