At the Stadio Carlo Castellani, Empoli and Udinese drew 0-0, a result that kept both teams rooted to the bottom of the Serie A standings. It may not have come as a surprise that neither team was able to break the score after the two teams had combined for just five goals and one victory in their previous seven league games. Udinese is now in 17th place with five points after the outcome, while Empoli moves up to 18th but may end the weekend in last place depending on other outcomes.
In an effort to stop Empoli's recent record of six losses in seven games with only one goal, coach Aurelio Andreazzoli made three changes to the team that lost 3-0 away to Bologna the previous time out. Ardian Ismajli, Alberto Grassi, and Matteo Cancellieri were added to the starting XI, but they were unable to change the course of events for the hosts.
