Everton have joined a Premier League rival in the race for a Ligue 1 midfielder

It has been reported that Everton has joined a Premier League competitor in their quest for a Ligue 1 midfield player.

With 14 players out of contract following Sunday's season finale against Newcastle United, the Toffees are expected to have a busy summer transfer window. Aboulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, and backup goalkeepers Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic will all leave Everton, the club has previously revealed. Four midfielders' contracts are coming to an end, including Doucoure. Throughout the campaign, Idrissa Gana Gueye has performed admirably, and supporters will be hoping that he commits to his future. Lyon loanee Orel Mangala hasn’t played since January after suffering an ACL injury and a decision needs to be made on Charly Alcaraz, who has been on loan from Flamengo since January. Everton have the option to purchase the Argentine.
