After this Friday's friendly match at Amsterdam Arena in Holland, French manager Didier Deschamps has a very interesting problem because there are a lot of players having a fantastic moment who are fighting to get a spot in the final roster for the upcoming European Championship in their own country. They played against the Netherlands on the day after Dutch legend Johan Cruyff passed away, they of course did a minute of silence in his honor.
During the first half, the first goal arrived early in the 6th minute, Antoine Griezmann scored a fantastic set piece with his left foot and put France ahead in the score sheet. The visiting team surpassed in every single aspect what the Dutch could ever do during the whole game. Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud scored the second goal ten minutes after Griezmann's after a Matuidi assist and left the match well underway to a new victory. But things would get difficult for France as the Dutch would respond during the second half.
The local team would get back at the French through De Jong who ceased a Depay assist right after the second half started. The match would enter a period of time where no team had the clear dominance, it had to be a long range strike by Affellay coming from a corner kick late in the 86th minute that tied the game. This match seemed destined to end in a draw, but Matuidi managed to score a last minute winner after a Martial assist.
With this victory, France proves that Deschamps has an over abundance of talented players on his hands, suddenly Karim Benzema's absence doesn't seem all that bad. But if Deschamps doesn't take the Real Madrid striker to the tournament, he would be making a huge mistake. Because even if most France players are at a near perfect form right now, Benzema is still his best choice as the main striker, Karim is currently at the best moment of his career.
