Gallas urges Conte to bring Chelsea back to glory

Now that Chelsea knows who their brand new manager will be next season, a lot of former Chelsea players are really excited with the idea of what Italian Antonio Conte is capable of doing with the Blues. One clear example is William Gallas, who before joining Arsenal played for Chelsea where he became one of Jose Mourinho's most trusted players during the Portuguese manager's first period. Gallas' love for London took his through pretty much all the London clubs but his heart is obviously with Chelsea where he started.

Today things seem to be very different than back when Mourinho returned for his second term with the Blues, there was a lot of chaos when the Portuguese came and the past season didn't end in a disaster because Guus Hiddink came and saved it in time. Although they didn't finish with any silverware nor will they play the Champions League, William Gallas is happy that things are finally turning around with Antonio Conte's arrival.

The former France centre back told Omnisport: "It was very, very hard to see Chelsea in this position, especially since I spent five years there. But it can happen, it can happen to the greatest clubs. I think next season will be another season. I hope that we will see Chelsea at the top. I knew it was not easy for them but seen from the outside, it was difficult to accept this situation. As I said, every season is different. Next season will be a new season for Chelsea. I think he [Conte] will bring his experience. He is a coach who likes to win competitions. He was able to prove it with Juve. I think he will bring a lot of rigor to this team of Chelsea."
