Genoa rallied from behind to defeat Sassuolo 2-1

Going into this match, both teams were shockingly tied on 16 points in equal 14th position. Domenico Berardi was ruled out due to illness symptoms, thus he joined host of other players treatment table. After 28 minutes, Andrea Pinamonti gave Sassuolo the lead, and Albert Gudmundsson equalized for Genoa from the penalty spot after Martin Eric was found to have touched the ball.

They almost increased their lead when Matheus Henrique's attempt was wonderfully stopped on the line by Josep Martinez. Gudmundsson, who scored his second goal in two games, was also involved in the game-winning goal three minutes before time. His assist to Caleb Ekuban resulted in the goal, which moved them above Sassuolo into 14th position. That came in the 86th minute when Ghana international Ekuban rifled a low effort past Andrea Consigli after responding to Gudmundsson's assist. Sassuolo and Genoa are now ranked 15th and 14th, respectively.
