The death of striker was publicly announced by his representative in the country, Murat Uzunmehemt, who, at dawn, wrote on social networks that he "was found and, unfortunately, passed away".

"Atsu was found, lifeless, under the rubble. At the moment, his belongings are still being removed from the site. His cell phone was also found", said the businessman, in statements given later to the Turkish news agency Demiroren Haber Ajansi.
