Iglesias happy at Espanyol ahead of new season

Iglesias was Espanyol's top scorer last season, netting 17 league goals as he formed an effective partnership with Chinese Wu which helped propel the club to a seventh place finish in La Liga and qualify them for the preliminary rounds of the Europa League.

The previous season, Iglesias had scored 22 goals in the second division for Real Zaragoza, and his ability to score on a regular basis made him a target for Betis, who are now coached by erstwhile Espanyol boss Joan Francesc Ferrer "Rubi".

Betis would almost certainly offer Iglesias more money than he earns at Espanyol, but it seems the 26-year-old is happy to stay where he is.

Spanish TV cameras on Thursday caught him talking to fans as he signed autographs following a training session as Espanyol got back to work early to prepare for their Europa League debut.
