James Trafford returns to Manchester City in £27m deal

The deal, worth £27 million, represents a major investment in the 22-year-old shot-stopper, who originally came through City's academy before departing in search of first-team football.

His impressive performances at Burnley and with England's youth sides have now earned him a return to the Premier League giants as part of Pep Guardiola's long-term vision.

Trafford is expected to provide depth and healthy competition in the team's goalkeeping ranks, with the club keen to bolster a position that has seen limited rotation in recent seasons.

Guardiola is believed to be a firm admirer of the young keeper's composure and distribution, viewing him as a player with the potential to thrive at the highest level.

Newcastle United were also monitoring his situation closely and remained in the frame until the final stages. However, the player made clear his desire to rejoin Manchester City, with all formalities now completed.
