Hugo Ekitiké, a striker for Eintracht Frankfurt, would cost Liverpool £69 million plus £10 million in add-ons, bringing their summer spending to nearly £300 million.
Ekitiké became the preferred number nine for the Premier League winners when they were not encouraged to pursue Alexander Isak, a forward for Newcastle. After being given permission to speak with Eintracht about personal terms, Liverpool expedited negotiations with the player late last week. The France Under-21 international's £10 million in add-ons are related to both individual and team accomplishments. The transaction is for €91 million, which is €9 million less than the forward's contract's €100 million release clause. Ekitiké is poised to become the champions’ seventh signing of an ambitious summer transfer window, after Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.
