Liverpool are reportedly hoping to sign defender Giovanni Leoni

Before the summer transfer window ends, Liverpool is allegedly hoping to sign Giovanni Leoni, an 18-year-old Italian defender from Serie A team Parma. Orazio Accomando, a well-known Italian journalist, reported that Liverpool is currently attempting to outbid Tottenham for Giovanni Leoni's services. The Reds are working harder to sign the 18-year-old sensation.

One of Serie A's best young defenders, Leoni might prove to be a wise long-term addition for Liverpool. In addition to his defensive prowess, he excels at having the ball at his feet and would fit well in with Liverpool's style of play. Given that Virgil van Dijk is nearing the end of his playing days, Liverpool must make plans for his replacement. It might turn out to be a smart move to sign the Italian defender. The 18-year-old is said to have exceptional talent and has the potential to become a vital member of the team.
