Liverpool lead race to sign Orkun Kokcu

Liverpool have emerged with an edge over Manchester United in the quest to sign SL Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu, a move that could reshape Premier League midfield options.

The 24-year-old Turkish international rose through 's youth system and became a pivotal figure for the club, playing a significant role in their Eredivisie title win in the 2022/23 season under Arne Slot. Kokcu then transitioned to Benfica, where he continued to impress with consistent performances.

He also contributed two assists during Benfica's run in the Club World Cup before their exit in the last 16 against Chelsea and helped secure the Taca da Liga trophy last season. His form has attracted attention from multiple suitors, including Liverpool, Man Utd, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan. Turkish clubs Galatasaray, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce are interested as well, but Kokcu has set his sights on a move to the Premier League.
