Man. United easily won at FCSB and qualified into last 16

The 19-year-old Mainoo capped his first start as an attacking midfielder under Ruben Amorim with a goal and an assist as the visitors produced a much-improved second-half showing after going in goalless at the break.

The half-time introduction of Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo injected pace and menace into the United attack and they deservedly went in front seconds after Bruno Fernandes hit the bar, with Mainoo crossing for Diogo Dalot to tap home on the hour.

Mainoo then added a second eight minutes later when he arrived on cue to provide the finish to Garnacho’s clever cut back.

The win sees The Red Devils end the League Phase in third spot and as the only unbeaten side in the competition.

FCSB had their moments but were largely second best and drop out of the top eight, meaning an 11th-place finish leaves them with the prospect of a two-legged play-off.
